It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven international trophies have come from 10 tries across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance exceeded that prior achievement can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those fitness problems have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
