Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The newest Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing violence and madness with the same enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, socially charged stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family continues to lift me up with their ongoing belief and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the nature of society through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, daring style to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
