The combatants are celebrating a mass killing that humanitarian officials suspect resulted in the deaths of over two thousand civilians in the Sudan's urban center of el-Fasher in recent weeks.
A Community Cut Off from the World
Following their control of the urban area under siege for almost an extended period, from late summer the paramilitary force moved to consolidate its control and restrict the remaining residents.
Satellite images demonstrate that troops commenced to erect a enormous earth barrier - a raised dirt embankment - surrounding the perimeter of el-Fasher, blocking access routes and preventing aid.
While the blockade worsened, seventy-eight civilians were slain in an militia attack on a place of worship on 19 September, while the UN stated fifty-three further were slain in drone and heavy weapon attacks on a makeshift community in fall.

A senior person wearing a traditional garment was seated alone amid the corpses. He rotated to look as a fighter equipped with a weapon walked along the stairs in the direction of him. lifting his firearm, the gunman released a one shot at the victim, who collapsed to the surface still.
"For what reason is this one even breathing," one fighter cried. "Kill this person."
Space-based imagery captured on late October seemed to confirm that shootings were furthermore conducted on the streets of the city, based on a study issued by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.
A key witness who provided testimony said they had seen "numerous of our relatives getting massacred - these individuals were assembled in a single location and each one killed."
RSF Leaders Seek to Conduct Reputation Management
Following the events that followed the massacre, paramilitary leader conceded that his troops had carried out "atrocities" and stated the events would be examined.
Included among arrested was after a report documenting his murders. Deliberately staged and edited recording posted on the militia's formal messaging account show the individual being led into a detention area at a detention facility on the perimeter of al-Fashir.
Meanwhile, the paramilitary force and associated online channels commenced trying to reshape the narrative.
Updates presenting its militiamen providing supplies to residents were disseminated by some users, while the paramilitary's public relations unit published numerous clips purporting to show the compassionate management of military captives.
In spite of the social media effort being deployed by the paramilitary, their conduct in al-Fashir have sparked global condemnation.
