Rob Edwards along with O'Neil represent the initial candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on the weekend following the team's 10-match without a victory start to the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic associations to the club - are among the names to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who made over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club directors as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
